Facilitating Successful Groups

Overview: Effective group facilitation is an important skill enabling leaders to direct the group process in a way that maximizes the talents of individuals and ensures success against defined team goals and objectives. This workshop highlights the multi-faceted role of a group facilitator and offers insight into group dynamics as well as methods for coordinating successful group efforts. This course is designed for leaders who facilitate their own teams, as well as those who lead committees, task forces or project teams.

Objectives: At the end of this training, leaders will be able to:

  • Understand the various dynamics that contribute to group processes and group development
  • Recognize the multiple roles that a leader must play when facilitating a group
  • Appreciate the need and be able to apply different facilitation skills based on diverse group situations

Time: One day with facilitation practice or half-day with minimal practice
