Overview: Many leaders underestimate the power of mentoring as a development tool. Mentoring, both formal and informal, allows individuals to tap into the collective knowledge and talent across an organization. This workshop is designed to assist leaders to both engage in and facilitate effective mentoring relationships within their organizations.

Objectives: During this workshop, leaders will:

  • Define the attributes of an effective mentor
  • Examine the role and responsibility of mentors
  • Distinguish between informal and formal mentoring
  • Explore 3 types of mentors and how they impact individuals and the organization
  • Discuss how to initiate mentoring relationships among employees
  • Identify when the leader should and should not be the mentor
